I spent so many days of my childhood at that speedway. My father raced open-wheeled sprint cars on dirt, but he was a big NASCAR fan. He ran on a circuit between Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. When I was a little girl - my bedroom walls were covered with checkered flags and posters of Richard Petty

I grew up a Mario Andretti fan. And yes, I was there the year he was winning for many laps and then the engine blew. 😢 That was rough.

I LOVED Mario Andretti!!! And I remember that race. As my two girls were growing up, this race was a tradition - big breakfast, up early to watch all the pre-race festivities. Neither girl has ever been to a race irl, but both are huge fans, even to this day. #proudmomraisingthemright

We do not live in the Midwest anymore and racing is not big thing here. Indy circuit does some through here once per year, but getting into it is nearly impossible.

And honestly, I’m an oval track girl. Not a street course fan, really.

Same, too hard to follow a street course and you see such a small segment. You don't see a lot at Indy either, I think that's why I liked Michigan so much, you could see the whole way around the track. Unless you had seats low on the front straightaway and the cars "disappeared" LOL!

That’s exactly why my father would never go to Indy, you couldn’t see the entire track, so he would rather watch it on tv.
