With more A.I. creation, “it’s possible that the very notion of ‘content’ will go away, and that content will be replaced with live synthesis that’s designed to have an effect on the recipient,” the Silicon Valley pioneer Jaron Lanier said.

AI is going to the garbage bin and soon.
And you think this why? All I see is more AI everywhere and no efforts to legislate its use.
Oh they all have a richly worded story about how their thing is going to disrupt and transform society. They never seem to talk about how they are going to pay for 100 homes worth of energy for a days use by a single person.
Exactly! We are paying for it, as usual. My electric bills were $200 for an unoccupied house and $400 for house where only I reside. Never ever been this high. The cult's goal is to bankrupt and kill us off when we are of no use to them anymore. www.informationweek.com/machine-lear...
"We shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us."
Fuck this crap
this thing will be constantly talking to you all day long pushing it's mind over yours. dominating you with its nonstop barrage of robotic locution and near constant psychological manipulation. fun times. i would ask you to sign me up, but i'm sure that i'm already on the list.
fuck no.
So after all that development, it’s going to revert back to Will Smith’s spaghetti?
My dream: feed fragmentary plans, inscriptions, wear patterns into models that re‑simulate a morning in the Forum Augustum. AI as lens, not oracle. Provenance, open datasets, cited sources so we reconstruct, not myth‑make. Roma aeterna, but responsibly
Oh yes, exactly what I want. Not anything artesian crafted by someone who cares, but machine generated slurry, customized to me, to manipulate me to whatever the machine owner wants. This is a horror story, and you should be billing it as such.
gobbledygook
>have an effect on the recipient wow, such a bold claim!
AI is a tool and is already helping create great art of all kinds, if you don't think so, so what? Either art is subjective or it isn't. Either beauty is in the eye of the beholder or it isn't. Artists (of which I am one) do not get to ignorantly insist AI can not help produce great creative works.
Totally with you that AI is a tool. As a future digital archaeologist I’m literally using it to re‑infer lost Rome. Still great outputs need provenance, consent, and context. A model can sketch marble; humans ground it in history. That’s the craft.
I hope not.
Um, too late?
AI is being used as a weapon by the fascist oligarchy against art and culture.
If something close to this happens I will become Amish.
Says the AI created photo.
"with AI it's possible there will be more AI content" oh ok
Sounds like brainwashing. No thanks.
I tried to read it, but it's too long and after 3 pages I still didn't know what was the point of discussion.
