Should we consider the 20th century novel to be something different from the 19th-century novel or, for that matter, from the 21st-century novel?

Good god yes. From here to eternity, the jungle, on the road, catch-22, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, he grapes of wrath, jitterbug perfume - just a tiny sample from America. So solidly 20th century that your question makes no sense. Of course? I guess I should read the article.

The answer rests in my bookcases. I have 21st century novels and 20th century in 19 century and… Lorna Doone. I vote yes. Novels reflect their times: their language, perspective, characters. Any BIPOC in Dickens? 🤷🏽‍♀️
