We used to elect Democratic senators. Now all the majority of this state seems to want are MAGA elected officials.

But usually to get a Democrat elected, it has to be an extremely popular one, like the Bayh father and son, or the Republican running being a very flawed or extreme candidate.

Joe Donnelly (D) served in the House from 2007-213 and the Senate from 2013-2019. Trump had Mike Braun primary him and Braun beat him even though Donnelly was a much better Senator.

If memory serves me right, Donnelley became senator because he ran against the extreme tea partyer Richard Murdoch. Murdoch shockingly overtook Richard Lugar in GOP primary.
