From the resignation letter of AUSA Hagan Scotten: "I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

In Zeiten wie diesen gibt es immer auch: die Aufrechten. #HaganScotten
I am seeing so much courage and selfless sacrifice out there, as more and more people, who risk losing everything, stand up to the tyranny. 💙✊💙👊💙
Unbelievable. The DOJ wants lawyers to defy their oath to follow the law.
This comes to my mind. “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” ~Fred Rogers
A masterpiece of civil courage and true patriotism.
Sounds like a set-up that should promote solidarity and integrity, or at least peer pressure. Monstrous in any case.
I have trouble imagining that one or more of the people who have resigned have not arrived at the conclusion that they have an ethical duty to report all of it to the Bar. Bove needs to be disbarred and his career ended.
We all should owe an oath to the Constitution and abide by a Code of Ethics! Not just lawyers, paralegals, judges but all of us especially the politicians and the military! DJT has corroded it all! He thinks he’s “mad” King George… it’s time for a Revolution against Republican tyranny!
GEORGE THE TURD!
Eventually some is fool and cowardly enough to accept! Lack of self respect will win!
Why is Trump having this fight to get DoJ to dismiss the case when he could just pardon Adams himself? 🤔
You want DJT to pardon a Black man for a crime? Is it your first day on this planet?
Because he needs the threat of the charges to keep hanging over Adams head

Powerful writing.

Do they teach that in Law School legal writing class?
They found one. Couching it as "he signed it to save everyone's job."
God I love this person. Someone hire Hagan Scotten pronto.
He reminds me of Jack Lemmon's character in "The Apartment" - a mensch, you dig? youtu.be/AFXFoDiTtmA
The Day of the Big Reveal: mass resignation of DOJ Profiles in Courage
I still don't understand the resignation thing. Why wouldn't they stay in their position and simple refuse to follow the order?
Reportedly, they found such a fool or coward.
MORE. OF. THIS. 💪
How soon until instead of firing people who do not obey the tyrant they incarcerate them? And how long after that do they just start executing them?
Derr Fuhrer in action...
Just wow
These last lines are scathingly, blisteringly brilliant.
In the vernacular: "If you keep digging long enough, you will probably find some L1 jackass intern to carry out your idiotically ignorant and def illegal order, but keep moving along moron because I ain't that guy!"
🤞🤞🤞🤞⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️🙏🙏🙏
Love that!! “It was never going to be me.” That’s exactly what integrity looks like! Every republican should pay attention.
The loss of Scotten and the others is terrible. Their letters are brilliantly scathing and a delight to read, but then I realize that it comes at a very terrible price. Bove will find his Bork, but I hope these fine lawyers can help fight what is coming. It might make up for some of the loss.
Well said! And we all know that there is no shortage of Republican fools and/or cowards.
This is wrong.
Stay strong. You are on the right side of justice, and of history
Stand strong - don’t do it. We need your strength and it will inspire others.
No matter how and when this nightmare ends - this letter makes me happy &’restores my trust in the human spirit. Hope

I don’t know how to say “nicely done” in Latin. Maybe “nota bene” will do.
• Bene factum - “well done” • Optime factum - “done excellently” • Laudabile - “praiseworthy” • Praeclare fecisti - “you did it brilliantly”
Superb. Today I learned.
🆒
I walked away from a career that I loved, was damn good at and planned to retire from. Why? A new administrator tried to bully me into things that were unethical and bordering on illegal. I walked the whole team followed. It took two years for the company to recover. Always do the right thing.
I agree. I refused to do deals with certain clients when it was clear their motivation was to game a) the regulatory regime or b) the contract with my company. And received pressure from my manager on these occasions but never agreed. It cost me in my career as well
I swore to my administration at that time that I would walk away from them with the same amount of integrity that I arrived with. I did and I am a better person for doing it. Hopefully, at least some of the current fed administration will do the same.
Even when it’s hard.
This is how it is done. Brave Americans are standing up to the ignoramus-bullies. They may lose their jobs, but they will keep their integrity. History will venerate them and excoriate Trump.
Somebody bottled apparently.
Why resign though? Why not make them fire you?
We could set that quote to a Taylor Swift song

At this rate, the DOGEbags will be elevated to DOJ by week’s end!

Lin-Manuel Miranda needs to put this letter to music.
@jag3562.bsky.social
Why do they all refuse and immediately quit? I'd think you'd want to refuse and stay in place. So long as you're there, they can't go to the next person.
Also better to be fired. If you resign you give up your rights.
What rights do you lose via resignation?
they resigned as a testimony to their integrity,& the law, their choice to move on. On the other hand unlike many private sector jobs, most govt positions require "just cause" for termination, meaning there must be a legit reason to fire an employee. They have appeal rights.
Needing just cause to be fired is another reason to not resign. If it takes them 3 days to fire you, that's 3 days without them putting pressure on someone else.
It Ain't Me Babe youtu.be/tT4_jSUNzWw?...
These fools are acting like mafia bosses-dumb ones. Hope everyone hangs tight
“I do not share those [negative] views [of the Trump administration].” Really, bro? Might wanna rethink huh
If you didn’t see this lawlessness coming as a legal professional i don’t know what to tell you. Like, very honorable resignation and all, but if you supported Trump you got yourself into this boat and you should’ve seen the flag it was flying long ago.
Narrator: "They did."
God bless ‘em all. What a despicable person Adams is to put them in this position.
