I don't understand why DOJ doesn't just stipulate to 72 hours notice before shipping him off to a 3rd country. Is that so hard? It doesn't seem unreasonable considering they sent him to CECOT where he was tortured. Why are they stonewalling the judge saying, "we will follow our standard process NOW,

even though they stepped on his rights 3 moths ago. AND SCOTUS said return him to same position he was the minute ICE snatched him. So he was snatched in Baltimore, so everything should take place in Baltimore. I would like to see the contract between ICE and CECOT, does it say, "No torture?"

This absolutely has the feel of an organized crime trial, but with the DOJ representing the criminals. The level of obfuscation by DOJ and the level of absolute distrust the court has of this regime is amazing.

I've not been in the courtroom since early 90s, but this reminds me of representing a client once who was just unable to tell the truth. Lot like Trump, pathological liar and always the victim. In court it was just excruciating with the judge constantly admonishing about my client. This is now US.

The problem here is the client isn't in the courtroom, so it's the lawyer stuck trying to sell representations whose truth he has no way to verify. I was taught that as a lawyer, your reputation for veracity is key, hard to earn and easy to forfeit.

Two days of mammoth effort on this coverage, thank you :-) This seems like a meat-grinder of a case for Khojasteh, but at some point he chose to be on that side in this arena. Some of these cases seem like they’ll either chew an attorney up or make them a forever-cynical automaton.
