He is a federal judge. They might not know each other. And that doesn’t really change anything - the sheriff’s department still needs to take the call seriously.
Yes, they do, and I did see the stupidity of calling up officials when they are accused of crimes but cops need to be more savvy about swatting before more people are killed. I know they don't want to be party to murder. Judges are harassed a lot and the sheriff knows that.
They should probably take such calls seriously by being aware that swatting is a frequent problem and that there is a substantial likelihood that they are being made a party to a conspiracy to murder a federal judge. But, you know, that might not let them pull out the tacticool equipment.

As a matter of fact, the Nazis went after judges and lawyers early into Hitler’s chancellorship. Many were beaten to death by brownshirts. Others were imprisoned if they tried to oppose Hitler. Most of those who weren’t beaten or arrested decided to toe the line.

The biggest issue, which these judges did not point out, is that the Supreme Court majority is part of the problem.
There are plenty of lawyers and judges saying exactly that. Unfortunately, there are six judges on the supreme Court that are all in for the Nazis to be in power and their names are Alito, Kavanaugh, Roberts , Thomas, Coney-Barrett, and Gorsuch.

The federal judiciary (with 6 exceptions at the top) has been nothing short of heroic in standing up for the rule of law. They can't do it alone. A quarter of the population is contemptuous of the law; another 40% or so is willing to rationalize or look the other way. Judges alone can't fix that.
A fair point. There have been other exceptions, but I imagine Judge Cougenhenour would agree that many have acted with integrity and courage.
