Finland is a member of the EU. It doesn't have private schools. I found that argument a bit strange

It has some. That's a bit of an edu-myth, along with "no other European country has the equivalent of GCSEs".

That's not strictly true. Private schools exist in Finland but aren't allowed to make a profit. www.techclass.com/education-in...
