WWII was defense, so you just made my point. I was sent to the Gulf in '91. So you tell me, why are you wanting to change it to the Department of War? You a war hawk without the influence of position?

The Constitution tasks the fed gov to “provide for the common defense.” That framing highlights protection of the nation and its people, not wars. “Dept of Defense” aligns with that constitutional duty. “War Dept” suggests aggression or conquest, which doesn’t reflect the nation’s stated principles.
