If this were a Christian nation, we'd be indicting the Speaker of the House for heresy and blasphemy and demanding that the White House resident give up his concubine and return to his true wife, Marla Maples (even though that relationship also began in sin).

I think most of that is old testament law.

β€œDon’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.” Old Testament law stands, says Jesus. Was god wrong the first time?

Well, do we really think that the Bible was written by a god, or men who saw it as an excellent way to control people? And is it at all relevant to human life now? The old T was about laws, rules and vengeance. The new T is love, forgiveness and faith. I THINK the Old T is a mythological story.

i always hesitate when i see posts like this, since i'm not looking for a debate, discussion, sure, but.. mythology or not (i'll post some chronology next & folks are welcome to correct me) the very first thing the 'snake' tried to corrupt in the 'garden' was with the question: Did God Really Say?

the "OT"/Torah covers a span of ~2500yrs, canonized in the 400BCEs. (The prophets & writings were accepted later forming the "OT"/Tanakh) Ezra was a divinely ordained priest-scribe who collected the writings & read the law out loud after the babylonian exile, earning his place as 'the second moses'.

Yeshua didn't abolish/do away with the law, he came to fulfill it. No one, other than the son of God could. simplified: if just being a good person, following all the mandates were enough-we wouldn't need salvation. being divine, he takes the wrath for us, so we a fallen people can be reconciled.
