from 2008 to 2016 we were warned that the military might be "let loose" in the streets...that is only happening now, in 2025, but those folks who did the warning seem awfully quiet strange, huh

Is it, though? The last few years I've tried to take the idea of the "post-truth era" completely seriously, and ignore what partisans say about anything, really, and pay attention to what they do. Hypocrisy will no longer check or shame anyone in the throes of an agenda.

Maybe strange isn't the best word...absolutely freaking ridiculous is probably a better way to phrase it. I've taken up the habit of not just ignoring partisans, but if I do hear them, I just assume the opposite is true. I get about an 80% success rate with that.
