If you suffer trauma in being the oppressor, if inflicting trauma traumatizes you, maybe you need to rethink your allegiance.

Self-inflicted trauma doesn't score very highly. Yes, compulsory military service, and yes, there are conscientious objectors. I respect their trauma. But they aren't being shot, mutilated, starved, bombed.
What about Holocaust survivors? What about descendants of the Jews expelled from Baghdad and Cairo (the largest single demographic group)? You seem fixated on the present day when the topic was communal trauma. Sometimes it’s necessary to make an attempt understand your opponent.
It’s not just “propaganda”. It’s real. I think that their reaction to the trauma is bad and wrong, but saying that it wasn’t trauma and that they’re all deluded misses what’s actually happening in their heads which is what the OP was trying to do.
