Currently there are about 160 million working people in America right now. Assuming each one gets paid every 2 weeks, if they all put in 25 cents per paycheck into a universal healthcare fund, in one year we'd raise over a billion dollars a year. $6.50 per working person per year.

Making Elon Musk pay for it wouldn't make me a bit mad.

Aka healthcare is NOT for profit! Also med school should cost far less and loans should be forgiven in exchange with providing healthcare in underserved communities

Works for me. How about modelling it like Medicare and paying for it with a 17% sales tax.

Sales taxes are regressive, they hit the poor a lot and the rich not at all.

So U want some else to pay for your healthcare. So let's take it further. 10% flat income tax. Period. No exceptions. No deductions.

Kind of unfair to take poverty people at 10% when their present tax burden is probable less. Start the 10% plan when they get out of poverty.

No. If U want everyone to be covered then everyone must pay equally. We could not tax on food, autos <10K, clothing, etc.

I'd be very happy with a single payer plan. I never want anybody else to pay for anything so I get mine for free.

But then they wouldn’t be able to do what they want with our taxes, eg, JD Vance vacations, DJT golf trips.

Yup! I'm a fan of sliding scale co-pays (zero for people who can't afford any) as part of the universal coverage. My mom worked for one of the first HMOs in the country and some people were coming in too often, some just because they were lonely. A tiny co-pay really changed that.

And every Senator or Congressional Representative that votes to take away or limit our healthcare should then give up their universal healthcare.
