This mentality isn't limited to Tesla. Microsoft, Adobe, & gaming companies are also doing this ****. Nintendo can brick your Switch2 at any time for any reason and the ToS specifically says you can't sue them if they do. Microsoft and Adobe don't let you BUY their products. It's all licensed use.

Last month MS locked the Office Education suite I bought back in 2007 and still use, back when you DID outright buy products, because I used my license to transfer the suite to a new laptop. They locked me out after I used it for nearly a year and wouldn't unlock it til I logged into an MS account.

I bought that software. I had a license to use it. And yet they summarily locked me out of it, citing a ToS I never agreed to because it's the ToS for MODERN Office software. I even consulted a lawyer about it. His advice? "Drop this. Use Libre Office." So now I do.

Which is why I'm still using Word from the 90s and Photoshop from 15 years ago.
