Yeah there's certainly those who function on that easy way of thinking, but I think a bigger driver is, like, careerism and elitism as a culture in certain driving segments of the party, the stink of which gets washed off with patronizing contempt for voters and animosity for the left flank.
Or, if people weren’t going to be morally outraged at Trump they would have been by now. But sure, maybe this time the fact he’s a bad guy will matter
