What we lose when there’s no privacy in public. www.vox.com/culture/4208...
People are being abducted by ICE, children are dying from starvation in Gaza, and Americans are fixated by more sensationalist tabloid drama. Let's get our fucking priorities in order!
Oh no, is the first amendment bothering you?
I will care when these same asshats who said “you have no privacy, get over it” are finally ready to start respecting the privacy of the rest of us. And that includes not selling our data to third parties any more. If they want to make that change, then I will support their call for privacy.
No. One of the only places entitled multimillionaires experience consequences is via the court of public opinion, that or maybe an orca yacht attack. Centre his wife, their kids & how emotionally, financially & potentially physically (cheaters often pass on STIs to spouses) this has been for THEM.
Is the person who wrote this having an affair?
incognito cuz "public!" 😜
No
🙄
Well, those folks were playing with fire and got burned, perhaps the universe was playing instant karma. I gave up on the thought of privacy in public years ago, that’s why I don’t live in a f**king city.
Should we feel weird when a RAPIST, insurrectionist, twice-impeached, and racist POS is elected for president in America 🙄 By the way, cheated on his wives as well 😐
They were out in public
Better ask yourself - Should we write stupid articles like this?
they went to a public place with lots of cameras. ffs
This is so fucking dumb
we should feel nothing It’s only important to those families The rest of it is simple minded distraction when there’s bigger fish to fry Waste of media
cheaters deserve no privacy. this is a perfect example of "play stupid games"... shame is their prize, & it is well deserved.
You’re not serious right?
As I am very tall, my dad told me growing up: “Son, never rob a bank. You’re the only one who will recognized.” What is public is by definition not private. And most of the time is not even anonymous. Even most of the January 6 traitors got tracked down, ID’ed and tried.
Privacy in public. Privacy. Public. Privacy. Public. PRIVACY. PUBLIC. Read a goddamned dictionary.
Lol privacy in public??? Do you think up is the same as down?
It sucks to live in a world where every public moment of your life could end up catalogued in a server somewhere or posted and reposted all over the Internet. On the other hand, most of us should feel like we have nothing to hide. There’s a reason societies shame certain behaviors. Deal with it.
If you’re doing something you don’t want to get caught at, avoid public places. You know place where you might run into people you know, Tv cameras, media and more. Public places are- public.
What dumbass expects privacy while out in public? Especially in 2025 when there are cameras everywhere.
This is rage bait. Or Vox’s application to be a guest editor for @nytpitchbot.bsky.social
If you take your affair to a public space you are taking the risk of it going public and getting caught. I don't feel sorry for them they are a couple of cheaters that got caught.
But this really was more about them going to a public event, where they bought tickets for a large private area the makes it easier to notice them, and then getting caught on an event camera there. Social media only enters into it after they got caught. This is literally billionaire problems.
I feel bad for people flooding the social media of the wife. That's messed up. But this is the story to make about privacy issues. Especially when this rich guy acted like that was the real problem -- getting caught.
Are there privacy issues today? Are there problems with how social media is used? Yes and yes. But by trying to make this story a launching point for discussing that, you undermine any serious discussion. So much so one would almost think that was the point. Weird decision.
Lol come off it. Everyone knows, you go out in public and do embarrassing shit, it's probably gonna end up on the Internet. Get a hotel and stop pretending that you get to live a normal life while cheating on your spouse.
This ⬆️⬆️. It's beyond embarrassing. As an employee, I'd be pretty concerned that my HR head is canoodling with the CEO. Pretty much blows any internal privacy assumptions out of the water. Suck it up buttercups - you're cheating? Get a room with fake ID where no one knows you - esp if you're a CEO.
