But it’s laughable that Liverpool are somehow to blame. We’ve bid, had that bid rejected and then said we won’t bid again this summer. Everything by the book - no public spats or Instagram dramas played as pantomime. It’s just unedifying.

If there's anything positive, it's that it's been a confirmation that Howe and Tyndall are utter nincompoops
Liverpool defo have forced this. Tapping him and his agent up.
How do you target a player if you don't first gauge the player's interest and then make an official bid to the club? The player's behaviour has made this seem all the worse, but I'm failing to see what Liverpool have done wrong. They can't just not put a bid in for fear of upsetting Newcastle.
We've got previous. We've done it again. We may not be the only ones to blame but we can't absolve the club of blame
Yeah, we're not blameless, but the notion that we're doing the devil's work, as is being pedalled by some journalists, is wide of the mark. This situation suits nobody at the moment.
If it's real to us as per konate they are scum, if we do it, it's how the game works
In the cold light of day, it is just how the game works, but of course it's never nice when another club wants to take a player you'd rather keep. I'm not sure if you're trying to put words in my mouth, using the term 'scum', but that's not how I feel. Have enough experience with Macca, Torres, etc.
Every high profile transfer in world football involves some degree of “tapping up”, though. This is hardly unique.
Yep. My issue is the idea Liverpool are not to blame. We have turned the players head
The idea that the player doesn’t have agency and the ability to decision make is so infantilizing. It’s like he’s a child being tempted with candy.
The player is at fault too. But he signed a long term contract. He must have known what that meant. All parties have messed up. Isak and LFC the worst of the three
Bhahaha! 😆 Yes, Newcastle a distant 3rd in the messing up stakes 😏
They have not tapped up Isak, they've not refused to pay him as per his contract.
Every player is tapped up though. Where Newcastle have messed up is in leaving a void at the top of their football operations that has resulted in them missing out on almost a whole team of player transfers. That's absolutely nothing to do with LFC.
However they have a contracted striker who is going on strike because he wants to go to LFC and LFC have clearly tapped him up Just because it happens, doesn't mean it's right.
That's like your hot wife flirting with your next door neighbour because he's got a nice house and car, then blaming the neighbour because your hot wife wants to leave you. Blame the neighbour by all means, but perhaps look at yourself and your wife first!
The bit I don't get is Eddie Howe and Richard Hughes worked together for nearly a decade, surely they have each other's number?
i'll never understand why, it is ok for the club to tell the player he is no longer wanted & if he doesn't leave he has to train on his own but it's not ok for the player to do the same.
Because if the player tarins on his own he still gets paid. That's how a contract works. The contract could say that he can't be forced to train alone, in which case if the club tried to do that they would be breaking the contract. It's really not complicated!
