I agree, but gun laws alone are not going to end this.
I agree, but gun laws alone are not going to end this.
Drunk driving laws didn’t end drunk driving fatalities but it greatly reduced them. Seat belt laws didn’t end traffic fatalities it it greatly reduced them. When Bush allowed the sale of assault weapons, deaths greatly increased. When Clinton stopped sales, deaths greatly decreased.
Yes, they fucking will.
FEDERAL guns laws will.
100% I agree. But even changes we recommend that are not gun-related are not typically funded. So we need real support for preventative measures and social support. Instead, they are moving to a more aggressive policy of monitoring everyone all the time. Like China
If you wanna say things like laws, don’t end gun problems then why don’t you just shut the hell up.
"gun laws alone" details matter
Actually I'm not going to. I didn't say they won't help, but Miinesota has extremely restrictive gun laws. Why dont you look them up? Do you believe all guns in America should be confiscated? Your solution to this problem is narrow minded.
MN may have strict gun laws. The problem is the man states don’t. You may not realize this, but guns are easily transported from one state to another. And, they can also be acquired illegally. Ready to call for the inspection of all packages and vehicle coming into the state?
No, that's a 4th Amendment violation. I never said I was against Federal Gun laws.
It ended it in the UK!
Please stop posting this. Nobody said gun laws alone. But we must scream, “Gun Reform NOW!!!” We need that much now!!! Then, we can fight for more.
You are partially losing this battle because your focus is very narrow. It's helping the opposition.
Please read your own words back to yourself.
You, your??!! Let’s talk dead children, literal bloodied children. There are too many people who think of the victims as abstracts or numbers. THIS IS A DEAD CHILD. SMH
Misleading statement. There are many gun laws supported by large majorities of gun owners. GOP opposes even common sense laws, and scare the very gun owners you are concerned about w/lies that the govt intends to come after all of their guns. None of which is true.
No place in the USA has effective, strict gun laws because the state next door has none. State by state does not work! 🤬
He bought the guns legally in Minnesota. Not next door. Im not saying the Fed should not pass gun legislation, similar to what Minnesota already has. Im just pointing out that gun restrictions alone will not end this.
If someone in his mental state can buy a gun legally, that is NOT a strict gun law. We are so blinded by 2A, we have no idea what strict gun ownership laws look like.
Who's responsibility was it to look at his journal and monitor his internet posts? He was over 20 years old. Are we going to give up our 4th Amendment rights? Are we going to give up our 1st Amendment rights? I understand the problem. Im only asking you to think critically about the solutions.
Federal gun restrictions like Minnesota will be a big step. Im all for it. Confiscating all guns will never happen.
We just don't want it to happen -- we like the killing too much. UK, Australia, NZ have all significantly reversed their gun ownership stance since the mid-1990's. They reframed the concept from a right to a privilege to be earned. We have our heads up our 2A asses.
Tell me the difference. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm...
The Feds should adopt this, I agree. Laws on guns alone will lower the incidences and slow the roll. A huge cash infusion into MH Service and the stigmatization of receiving them will go a long, long way to end this. It's something Mike Johnson opposes more than gun control.
In most states, you can not buy a gun without taking a gun safety course, and it requires much more to own a pistol.
9 states, and DC require gun safety courses for gun purchases — 10 out of 51. Not exactly most.
Guns kill. Military style assault weapons are unnecessary. Mentally unstable people should not own them. Full stop.
Yes they will. They did in the UK, they did in Australia. Where is your evidence they aren't?
It works in every other developed country in the world. Strict national gun laws do in fact work very well. Esp when they are enforced.
Do you believe we are going to confiscate every gun in the USA. That's not going to happen. There are basically no guns in many countries. I didn't advocate no gun laws. Read the post. I said they won't stop it completely.
And you should read what I said: National gun laws work, esp when they are enforced. No one mentioned confiscating guns. Over time stricter gun laws would work better and better as more are taken off the street.
It would be a great place to start
It's not going to end it, but it can certainly have a impact to start slowing it down. We have to start somewhere.
Gun laws alone are what stop things like this from happening in other countries.
Really
Really.
Gun laws alone won't, you're right it will take more than that. But without gun laws, you won't even get started, nothing else will make a meaningful difference.
But it certainly won’t hurt. Banning fentanyl hasn’t stopped the flow. Should we just throw up our hands and say legalize it like we do with guns?
Why do we have such a huge fentanyl problem in this country? Not Canada, not EU. Not the UK, not the Baltics, not anywhere else. Maybe just maybe we are looking at two problems with very similar solutions?
So then let's not do anything?
Can you read?
So I'm not allowed to ask a question? Fucking excuse me.
It's a fucking start. My God wake the hell up.
