My high school had a student exchange program and we took a whole course on Korea's (albeit, very long!) history. I was alarmed, even as a teen, at how the cruelty they faced was just never really talked about in Western discourse. The resilience of the Korean people and culture is astounding.

It's part of why when their head of state attempted to subvert parliament the parliamentarians scaled walls and fences to attend a special session to stop him. Totalitarianism is all too familiar, while our democracies are too easy to take for granted.

People with CHF often die slowly as their lungs fill up and the drown in their own fluids. I’m good if he lasts a couple extra weeks as long as he’s suffering.

My grandmother died in precisely that way. I watched her die. She was gasping for breath at the end. It was sad. She certainly didn't deserve to die that like that. I'm in your camp though.

With my luck, that's how I will go, since I wish it for him.

We have medical aid in dying in OR. I’d ask for euthanasia prior to that point.
