It wouldn't be optional if Congress decides to act. 😁

It worked with drug prohibition. We got rid of drugs. We can do that with guns too.
Apples vs oranges.
Two fruits...?
It means it's a false equivalent.
I guess we will see if adding more laws helps anything. We have plenty of laws now but they apparently don't matter. Just look at Dem leadership saying "Trump can't do that! It's illegal!" every day.
All of this would have to await Krasnov's departure from office, of course.
Are you old enough to remember when assault weapons were banned? I am. The ban survived court challenges. Unfortunately, it expired under its own terms. It could be reenacted (theoretically) in conjunction with a mandatory buyback program (which IMHO would be legal under the 5th Amendment).
drugs are made with renewable resources found in nature. guns are manufactured and require ammo. if guns become rare they become expensive, most people wont be able to afford guns. you know many tweakers who can pull together 5 grand to buy a handgun to rob a gas station?
You can make guns at home just the same as drugs. Both are manufactured. Most drugs on the street now aren't natural, they're manufactured in labs... because of prohibition. Most of these mass shooters can afford the $5k. Tweakers would sell their gun for dope.
You could make a zip gun. You can't make a gun at home that you could use for a mass shooting. Feel free to prove me wrong by doing it.
