In just the past week or so, Russia has bombed a US factory in Ukraine, bombed an EU office in Ukraine, and jammed the navigation system on a plane carrying the EU president, forcing the pilots to land using paper maps. Putin does not want peace. He will keep pushing until we fight back.

You see the problem here, right? The bully pushes and pushes and when you fight back, you give him what he wants. Now you're engaged and he can explode with rage. Sanctions might have worked if Putin cared about his own people starving/dying which he clearly does not.
I would argue sanctions are working, but would be more effective if the US were doing more (Trump won't, but Europe still has options). Cancel visas for Russians in Schengen. Put travel limits on Russian diplomats in Europe. Seize the 300 billion euros. And I have a list of covert action ideas.
Our response doesn't have to be kinetic. Also, Putin won't explode with rage. Every time someone has stood up to him, he backs down.

Yeah, Ukraine is taking care of the kinetics. They've been blowing up Russia's oil and gas infrastructure for the last few weeks. Just the other day, they hit the only facility that makes TS-1 jet fuel.
