Wow, that's a lot of hummingbirds. I have a lot also but I seem to be watching aggressive males chasing the others away. I have 5 feeders hoping that would help. They sit up in the tree watching and waiting to attack.
Amazing to see so many; and they don't really seem to be competing the way mine do.🙂
I was thinking the exact same thing! I have three that presumably are the same that come back year after year, but they fight in the air and only one at a time use the feeders.
Hummingbird heaven....id love that. I have three and was excited lol.
Here in N.Y. I have the very territorial Ruby throated hummingbird that wants to own the feeder to the exclusion of any other hummingbirds. I put one in the front of the house and one in back out of sight of one another and just 2 birds chase any others away.
I find it works better to put two or more feeders close together. The dominant bully can’t manage them all.
I'm not my vessel Vessel doesn't define me Vessel doesn't control me Let my vessel / body laugh and mock at me as much as it want to collapse or die I remain intact I already transcended my vessel by beyond absolute infinity I'm myself I define myself I'm me
You’ve created a lovely environment for them!
When do they begin their migration south? We've seen some at our 🏠 lately.
They’re migrating now.
Good Morning Allen and Mrs. Allen!! I have never put up a hummingbird feeder. I really don't know why because I have always fed the birds and squirrels. Your hummingbird visitors are amazing!! Enjoy your day! (I am a blue dot in blood red Oklahoma)
From spring til now we usually see two or three hummers at a time. Last weekend we were seeing as many as seven at once, dueling around the three feeders. A brief clip:
Wow! Not sure where you are but will wager those are not the territorial little ruby-throated hummers we get. I have to separate each individual feeder so that a bird at one can’t see a bird at another.
They are Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, in SE Missouri. And when you put multiple feeders close together, the dominant ones get overwhelmed.
I didn’t know that. Thanks hope the tip! I have three single feeders and it’s constant warfare in my yard. I’ve not had much success with larger feeders. Too many bees. But these little singles work great.
They are the most beautiful of creatures, a wonderment to the eye…..
