Canada needs to develop a small nuclear deterrent to discourage the Americans who want to invade and murder us. The idea of expanding the American empire isn't going to go away and we will only ever be an election away from the next Trump.

My bad. I suspect we'll have to build our own if we want to rely on them to deter the US. If America continues to transform into some kind of oligarch run white christian nationalist empire that attacks I don't think anyone is coming to save us.
