People need to let go of childish fantasies of space travel and accept that Earth is all we have. We're hundreds if not thousands of years away from viably establishing ourselves on another planet. Assuming climate change doesn't end us first.

Even if we could collaborate as a species to travel across space, there is the problem that future technology will always be better so nobody will start the process because each ship built will get overtaken enroute to destination by every subsequent ship.
