For conforming mortgages there is no difference between principal and primary. The guidelines explicitly state that principal is primary

As I understood, Nathan was referring to the fraud accusation which was a tax law issue, and in that context principal and primary are not the same. I am not a lawyer, but I am happy to learn more.

no, the fraud claim is about the mortgage applications. the law determines when misrepresentation matters, but it's the facts of the claims made on the application that determine whether there was misrepresentation

there are some potential tax issues as well, but so far as I can tell that mostly relates to property tax matters so it's very local/state law specific
