Night No1 in London with my family. No rapes, muggings, murders, threatening behaviour. Even our phones haven’t been nicked. Must be scared of taking on Geordies! Must try harder tomorrow.

Night No3 done. Waiting to go home. South London, North London, central London, not the victims of crime in any way. We’ve ate multiple national meals, been served beer by “iminagrunts”, had” foreinz” in close proximity. Nothing. Not even a stabbing, which by all accounts happens constantly.

On the slow boat down the Mekong river in Laos chatting with a Pole who had a racist streak. London was the example I used to say he was wrong but gently. A city of 150 nations and more languages. But it works, groups may not love each other but they get by share space and day to day it works.

Lewis’ take was spot on. As a long time resident of Streatham I feel safe walking around. My young adult kids can meet friends and travel home at all hours. One has chosen to stay in London for uni. I love London’s diversity.

Being now in my 60’s and having lived in Glasgow, Manchester, London and Birmingham, i can tell you that even at its worst London was no worse than any of these other cities and it at best no better all great cities with good and bad throngs happening every day.

The format of these articles is a little odd. It's quoting Lewis Goodall, authority figure. But Lewis is listed as a co-author of the article. Why not present the comments in the auhtor's voice? Is it something to do with the UK' mad libel laws? For the record, I know who Lewis is, I'm just sayin'.
