Time starmer did a government announcement/place TV/Newspaper Ads to once and for all tell everyone what these "asylum seekers" get/don't get. Phones? Yes/No. Ipads? Yes/No. Are these hotels still 4* or just buildings that were 4* hotels and are now just buildings? Etc. Spell it out loud and clear.
If Labour don’t counter the demonisation of migrant narrative by going after extreme wealth then all will be lost. You can’t outflank the right on racism.

Rylan's appeal is largely that he could be a normal person. That he's using far right propaganda to talk about migrants in hotels is worrying, it's mostly a miserable, disconnected life lived by people who are traumatised. Labour should show courage and be open about how hard it actually is.

I think he's pretty articulate tbh. He's been open about his mental health issues and sexuality and this seems a bit incongruent. As many have said, it's a reflection of how lies and half truths have become accepted as the reality.

I've a lot of time for Rylan, and think he's a decent bloke at heart, but he's let himself down here. If he'd said something along the lines of how inaccurate claims re benefits migrants receive are often posited, this would have addressed the popular misrepresentation without adding to it.

One problem we face in the UK is that many people are prepared to uncritically parrot what they read on social media, and other unverified sources, without fact checking, whenever that coincides with their existing viewpoint. This Morning has a responsibility not to fuel that fire of misinformation

Yes, maybe this sorry episode highlights a bigger problem, that through repetition, false narratives become normalised and widely accepted, even by otherwise reasonable people. My thoughts are Rylan, and This Morning, need to publicly correct this error, and maybe start a debate on fact checking.

I think it’s fair to say that the labour govmt is unbelievably bad at politics. And it feels odd to say you don’t want labour getting drawn into the reform agenda. Immigration is a huge topic. Labour need to grasp this and get ahead of it, or they will be out of power.

I kinda take the point you make but Labour need to respond to the current narratives being espoused by the media. At the moment they just come across as weak. There needs to be an acceptance that the media is lazy and only interested in headlines and chaos. That’s how they make money.

Due to Keir Starmer's weakness as a leader to counter the Brexit and migration narratives, UK is now falling into the hands of the far right. The elections gave Labour such strong backing - all of this is gone due to complete failure. If Starmer would've countered the narratives, Labour wld be up.

The BBC has repeatedly failed to fact check statements made by Nigel Farage and other politicians pushing the anti-immigrant rhetoric. Reform get far more coverage on the BBC than the Lib Dem’s who have 68 more seats than Reform.
