Minuscule but delicious!
All are beloved favorites that I have grown in previous years except for the new-to-me Matt’s Wild Cherry (which will join them because I am certain I will grow them next year)
The Yellow Pear is a nostalgic favorite from childhood but I have to admit that if I were to choose only one of the five, I would take the White Currant. So prolific, cute and sweet as candy!
I’ll do a proper comparison and taste test once my nose is healed but in the meantime: Sweetest: White Currant Least Acidic: Yellow Pear Sharpest: Matt’s Wild Cherry
I find that the Matt’s Wild are challenging to harvest individually. Easier to cut a full stem when several start to ripen.
Yes, the currant-size varieties are fussy to harvest. I enjoy doing it personally but I definitely understand not wanting to deal with it
I grow lots of varieties as well. The Matt’s Wild went feral on me — wild, you might say! They’re the only ones I snip off with the fruit still on the stem.
Yeah, they are fab for containers because I can keep an eye on them, I'm glad I didn't plant them in the beds!
