And Paul Robeson's double role performance in BODY AND SOUL (1925) is remarkable. Charismatic, dangerous, sexy vs meek and shy. He ran the gamut.
It's an awful movie in so many ways but I love how incredibly macho Marlene Dietrich is in GOLDEN EARRINGS. She started her career playing the musical saw and singing while wearing a see-through dress.
