I continue my lively correspondence with the Bluesky automod. My objections are as follows: No fine art exceptions No recourse, the appeals process is useless Numerous false positives (I have had multiple silent film GIFs flagged) Numerous actual adult material goes right through unlabeled
Also, I have been fighting this battle my entire life. My parents had a decent collection of Renaissance masters and fashion engraving books. Artistic nudity wasn't shocking, my mom just said that they wanted to study muscles and bones and that was fine. But when I got to school... boy howdy!
A prudish parent managed to get THE BOOK OF GNOMES removed from a classroom (there are breasts in it!)
The above painting is The Corpses of the De Witt Brothers, attributed to Jan de Baen. It portrays the decapitated, disemboweled and partially-eaten bodies of Dutch politicians. The automod is fine with it.
The automod was also fine with the severed head of Medusa in the first post of the thread. Well, I guess it's consistent to the inconsistencies of American prudery, I'll give it that.
tl;dr Just because THEY would be the person perving and creeping over the model in a figure drawing class doesn't mean the rest of us are and their censorship says more about them than it does about art or artists.

Automation as an accountability dodge, many such cases. They have to have something and this is something. And inside the company, only a true sicko (laudatory) would take on a project to make it better, since they would then have to tend it forevermore and be keelhauled when it fails.
