Because these thugs are going around masked and badgeless, we're not being permitted to see who they actually are. We're told they're ICE officers (often, not always), but they could just as easily be outside forces like the Proud Boys and other paramilitary groups. Which could present a problem.
And some undoubtedly already are and many more will be. But there is no comparison at all between the rather pathetic wannabe stormtroopers of Jan 6th 2021 and the 2 million strong (which in US pop terms would be 10 million) SA of Jan 30th 1933.
Damn! I hadn't relaized their numbers were anything like that. If our military, police, and elected officials would just uphold their oaths instead of following orders, we'd be all right. Something's got to give soon, I'm thinking/hoping.
And by the time of the 1934 purge there were 3 million SA in a population of 67 million so over 10% of adult males. And hugely outnumbering the army which their leaders wanted to take over - after the purge the opposite happened. There is no American equivalent to the SA because none is needed.
The German ruling class needed the SA and the Italian ruling class needed the fascist squadristi because they feared an organised and to some extent also armed working class. There is no armed and organised working class in America and so the police are all that is needed to liquidate democracy.
