Such crazy political times. So you got me, a former Tea Party guy, who formally joins the Democratic Party a month ago, and here’s @joyannreid.bsky.social thinking about possibly bolting the Democratic Party. Crazy times.

I agree with @joyannreid.bsky.social . The Democratic Party as it currently stands is beyond frustrating , out of touch and does not seem ready for this fight. Blow it all up

Why make this announcement @joyannreid.bsky.social? Being "independent" or joining a 3rd party helped get us Trump 1.0 & 2.0. The Dem party doesn't require allegiance to a person or set platform. We can have varying opinions on issues. You're not joining the GOP so why this as a shiny metal object?

To make the point that the current “strategy” (and I use the term very loosely) of the Dems is dogshit and they need to stop sucking.

It seems better to say that rather than say you might leave the party. I desperately want to see @senatedemocrats.bsky.social force #Chuckles @schumer.senate.gov out as minority leader; I think it’s more direct 2 advocate for specific changes. No $ from me to ANY Senate Dems until he’s out of power.

See, I can get behind that. And to be clear, im certainly not leaving the party. But a big name like she saying this might shake something loose in a way that my leaving would never do.

Many regular Dems are having similar thoughts. If we whole heartedly support Dem pols and we get Trumpist fascism anyway, then what are we doing? The Party will find that implacable opposition to Trumpism is the only way forward, or it will wither and fade away.

Please get the Dems to start talking about what it means to be an American. What are our values are, what we stand for, and how this administration is doing is completely against all of that.

And if Trump and conservatives were serious about stopping undocumented migrants, they could simply fine employers for hiring them. They will never do that. They would rather scapegoat these people and blame Democrats. They also enjoy the cheap labor.

I understand the frustration. The Democratic Party is refusing to listen to the millions of people out in the streets protesting this admin and their policies. Instead, they keep on approving their unqualified nominees and giving out meaningless platitudes to constituents begging for their help.

Joe, thanks for your posts. Are you sure Democrats are on a good path with leadership? Here in NYC we have primaries for mayor. The same Democrats in power who shoved Cuomo aside are now behind him because they fear young leaders. This party is a sorry den of entitled old leaders.

Remember when Johnson made states integrate schools and all the racists left the party? Now we see the reverse. Dems are toning down inclusivity as tho it were performative for Obama. Black voters aren’t stupid. They will effect change one way or another. We may be in for a ‘68 style swap.

Would be poetic to take back the party of Lincoln. Roll policy back to the Eisenhower days when literally everyone was liberal. Squeeze the racists into the fringes where they belong. Or toss the elect. college and make room for more parties. I’m here for many possible outcomes.
