It’s a matter of limited resources and making Americans safer and more secure? There are always more violations than the system can handle, so spending law enforcement resources wisely is crtically important. That’s my perspective as someone who worked in the system as a Special Assistant AUSA.

Last I read, the number of detainees without criminal records was somewhere around 85% of the total number detained. Similar to people being arrested in DC. Courts are showing that charges against people arrested for minor crimes are being bumped up to more serious crimes to make Regime47 look good.
