it seems endless- when 9/11 hit, I think that was the first crack; the shock broke the armor we'd had, shattering our perceptions. fear became the norm- and it was stoked every waking moment with ceaseless assaults on logic & reason. the lies & manipulation led to wars that killed 100kx more than 1/
the initial attack- we devastated sovereign nations in retaliation and it was accepted as the norm. the global recession followed shortly thereafter- we devastated our own country and the world economy out of greed, and that shattered armor we had was ground to dust. the resentment was directed 2/
at everyone who managed to barely survive, and those that made survival possible because it was a black guy who led us out instead of the white guy who caused it. then we got trump- and to be fair, he isn't the disease but the symptom- and he marshalled the fear, resentment and anger, forging 3/
it into a blade and plunged it into the heart of whatever decency and integrity we had left. then when COVID hit, already weakened and fighting a metastasizing cancer, we decayed into a mass of unstable chaos- those once solid blocks that we relied upon were gone, and any attempt to rebuild was 4/
an exercise in futility- our cancer had spread to the rest of the world, the madness becoming so common it's now the norm and widely accepted as such. we now expect diametrically opposed leaderships and compromise is no longer an option- the 'other side' is the enemy regardless of stance and 5/
the only winners are the media outlets who feast on ad revenue from clickbait and rage farming. I feel for people who have kids & grandkids- they see the horizon they'll not reach and the pain the generations ahead will endure. it's shock, adjust, repeat, every goddamned day. happy Monday 6/x
