#birds A grackle gets a drink from the bird bath - the shimmer of the feathers is something that astonishes me every time!

Great video! I love grackles! In addition to shimmery feathers, the golden eyes of this variety (Quiscalus Mexicanus) make them really stand out. This one's having a bath in a big rain puddle in McAllen, TX. #birds #grackles #birdwatching

I watched grackles destroy every song bird in the area. They broke eggs, tore up nests and killed adults and chicks alike. They got so bad that I personally bought owl cutouts to place on companies rooftops and moved them around. It worked and the next year - song birds! Sorry - I hate them.

Can't blame you for that, but ferrets do much the same in the wild. I appreciate your heroic efforts to send grackles packing and preserve the songbirds in your area. I've only seen grackles peacefully co-existing with doves, sparrows and a few others. My cats, BTW, stay in the house and complain.

Good. Here in Texas they took over, bred so quickly that huge flocks took over our parking lots. I watched them eat doves that were so gentle you could hold their babies and they'd gently take your finger. Broke my heart to find them a bloody mess. abcbirds.org/program/cats...

Thanks! My videos come from a trail-cam in my yard in the Northeastern part of the US. No feeders, just the bird bath.
