I’ve known many guys like Ken Sim over the years. They’re smart and they work hard, but just being good at what they do isn’t enough… they need to be fêted for being smart. They crave that external validation. That’s why these guys end up in politics and/or grifting.

LOL like that’s so obviously untrue. I’ve seen a lot of arguments that the net environmental impact of bitcoin is marginal (it’s not), but the idea that it’s *good* for the environment is just false. It doesn’t even stand up to a modest amount of scrutiny. bsky.app/profile/isab...

We won't start capturing harmful methane at scale, globally, if it's not profitable. The best business case for this is Proof of Work mining.

Sustainable energy projects that have to wait years to get a grid connection, can already start being profitable if they can sell their energy off-grid, to Proof of Work miners. More profitability = more investments in sustainable infra.

Sustainable energy plants that struggle to find customers 24/7 and often at remote locations, become profitable when they can sell their surplus energy to some Proof of Work miners in a shipping container dropped on-site.

The presence of flexible load on the grid, that can immediately switch off when needed (demand response), reduces the need for expensive fossil gas peaker plants.

Curious to hear your "modest amount of scrutiny".
