If you’ve never played any games you can either play the 2, 3 or 4 remakes or start with 7. Village is a direct sequel to 7. Most games aren’t tied together so you can play out of order with 7 and 8 being an exception.

I looked only RE 3 & 4 are free on PS+ but RE7 used is only about $18 so that definitely fits my budget right now, haha.
