This is a HUGE red herring because: the real point of this act is to bring local elections under federal supervision. (All you need is a certified copy of a name change order. In states where name change is "included" with marriage licenses, there will be lawsuits and/or legislative changes.)
It's absolutely not okay to disenfranchise voters by requiring ID for which obtaining required documents is difficult or impossible. Not for one minute do I support that - but I worry that this act in concert with DOGE's data theft may be the opening salvo to persecution of political dissidents.
