Hasn't Waymo killed a bunch of pedestrians already?
Self-driving cars will always do that, which is why they need to be wholly opposed.
Meanwhile humans are getting run over all the time by people and no one bats an eye.
Personally, I think the greatest benefit of self-driving cars is that - without a sympathetic human driver behind the wheel - people will be much more willing to punish a corporation for actually breaking traffic rules and hurting others.

Precisely. Waymo cars that aren't hurting anyone draw this much ire while human drivers in LA kill over 300 people a year and you can't even get speed limits reduced.
I am that annoying driver (when I drive) that goes slightly under the speed limit so that our city traffic engineer can lower our speed limits (under CA law and car-brained elected officials that can fire him). It shouldn't be this hard to lower speed limits
No one has ever been killed by a Waymo. They are, in-fact, demonstrably safer drivers than humans.
You cant say that, yet. Humans can and do drive *anywhere* and in any weather or any terrain damn near anywhere on Earth. Waymo cant and hasn't so we dont have enough information to make that claim yet.
Fair point. They're safer than humans in certain situations, and less safe in others.
Agreed.
It has killed zero pedestrians
It hasn't. There was one fatality involving a Waymo that stopped when it was hit by human driven car going way too fast. But Waymo was pretty clearly not at fault. www.nbcbayarea.com/investigatio...
Oh, there was a lady hit by an Uber self driving car. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_o...
A Cruise hit a lady and dragged her about 100 feet. Thats what ultimately got their license to operate pull. But anyone living in SF from 2019-2023 could tell you Waymo was much safer.
