But what will the ABC cover after the 8th of Sept?
But what will the ABC cover after the 8th of Sept?
ABC has already started a fascinating podcast about a fatal helicopter crash involving crocodile egg collectors...
Oh, I just assumed they loved that particular court case. But their dual-use content is a podcast. Lovely. Magnificent. My tax dollars at work.
Anyone else wondering if after the sentencing they go after her for the attempted murder of Simon? I can see why the judge put those charges aside, but now that case has to be even stronger, right?
Can't bring that up at the trial
A new trial for the earlier poisoning claims would be hard — her triple-murder conviction could prejudice a jury. Safeguards exist, but prosecutors usually avoid weaker cases once a major conviction is already secured. In practice, another prosecution is unlikely unless strong new evidence emerges
Yeah, I figure she’s going away for thirty years so it’s a bit of a moot point. I can’t imagine what the jury would be feeling if they found her not guilty then heard all the inadmissible evidence, so at least that didn’t happen.
You can't find someone guilty for robbing number 11 in a road on the basis that they are a well-known burglar. However, if on the same night houses 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 had been burgled then maybe...
Sure, but imagine the horror if you found her not guilty and then heard how she’d poisoned her husband a bunch of times and one of them had him in ICU for three weeks and he lost part of his bowel. That’s some walking in front of a train shit.
Well the jury found the truth so it has all worked out fine.
But that’s the big fault the system works under. The average person doesn’t care about what a judge says or doesn’t; they make their mind up the moment they see the accused, regardless of fact. Hell, my own mother sat in a jury that decided guilt based upon wanting to go home and watch Home And Away
Maybe that's what your mother said. But according to the court reporters in the mushroom case daily podcast, the jury were very intent and listening very carefully throughout. It sounded like proof that the jury system works well
