Wages in Russia and Japan are going up because of labor shortages. Remind me how well American wages are keeping up with inflation?

Wages going up due to labor shortages is not a positive in the long term. That simply means their economies will remain stagnant/decline unless they enact significant policy changes.
Japan's economy has remained stagnant but they have maintained a high quality of life, the UK has brought in something like 16 million immigrants over the past decades and has not seen economic growth or a better standard of living. Obviously Japan needs to have more kids but not for macroeconomics
