I doubt many in the conservative, Republican establishment elite are concerned about "jobs numbers." They'll want to know about stock returns. In their opinion, workers and those looking for jobs can go to hell. They're not woke leftists, socialists, communists, Marxists, who care about that.

When lenders and foreign investors can no longer trust the numbers provided by a government, they stop investing in that country. The corrupt criminal and his clueless cult are causing immeasurable damage to the US economy and thrust around the world.

Good point. The lies, deception, corruption, criminality conservatives, Republicans rely upon to increase their own economic power paradoxically will inevitably diminish the economic power of others, the nation at large, but then, under egoistic conservative values, that's none of their concern.

As I comment whenever I hear this sort of thing, I think it's rather more reasonable, given the evidence, to suppose Republican congress men and women are on the same page as Lord Dampnut than to imagine they have sound values but are spineless cowards. I see no evidence of any real unease.

Suppose Xi decides to publicly sell US debt for a few months and ask his folks to just, say, plant several billion trees for a couple of months? Japan can't pick up the slack. True, only about 1/3 of US debt is held by foreign entities, but messing change any of the top 5 in that slice and...
