Just started college. Remember this album so well.
Just started college. Remember this album so well.
also one of the worst mullets ever worn by a human being
One of the best song intros ever.
One of the best songs by one of my favorite bands
1987??? How? How can that be??? Sigh…
In a word - yep. I stopped paying attention to class reunion notifications long ago...
I warped 2 cassettes of the Joshua Tree. 🙌🏾 Bullet the Blue Sky was the gem of the album.
LOL cassettes.
Hey! Don't make fun of the aged. 🤣
Hahaha I'm older than dirt and twice as dusty. Got a sansui sc-1100 and a suitcase full of tapes here.
Love it!
Not all Columbia House too!
Played thousands of times since.
No band has ever hit it as big as U2 with having produced just three good songs.
Hahahahahahahahaha you have to hate better…that doesn’t even make sense
The vast majority of bands have 0 good songs (defining a good song as one I wish I had written). Many have just 1. Some have 2. 3 good songs isn’t hate- it’s respect. Only a handful of bands exceed 3, but they’re the big ones. U2 level. U2 is the biggest that doesn’t exceed 3.
Still my favorite album❤️❤️❤️
The best U2 album.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤍
Love that entire album
Nice to see a ref to U2 & have their music come to mind. Reminded me that there's a work by William Butler Yeats I want to score with specific U2 songs. Like Bono's gonna say, "oh surely y'can do that & with the blessings of the tribe on your shining head" (Anyone win last nite's NY Lottery?)
I remember buying the album - vinyl and loving every single song on it 💕
I was 20 years of age. Went into the Navy.
Iconic.
love it. can't underestimate the impact of that album. I still remember the first time I saw it. 7th grade, standing in the bus line to go home. Someone handed me the cassette. I loved Bono's all one length hair. Became a new trend. Then I saw the video for With or Without you. I'm in!! ✊✌️
I used to really like the band, but I stopped listening when Bono started preaching. When he told us we should donate our money to Africa, while they were evading taxes in the Netherlands, I lost them completely.
Which then gave me more music to like by them besides "Sunday Bloody Sunday".
I love the pt shop boys version. But I no longer like them for their support of genocidal regime of Netanyahu. Same with U2 who is disgustingly cosy with IDF
And one of my all-time U2 favorites.
Great album. There best for me
If only they'd not bothered.
Still their best album.
Loved this album. Love this band
One of the best songs I’ve ever seen performed live.
Must be referring to rural areas. Asked someone what road they lived on even that person did not know.
No its about the areas of Northern Ireland where what they called to "troubles" happened. The reporting of incidents: ( murders and violent assaults by all sides) didn't specify where exactly. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is equally about uk armed forces killing civilians.
Reminds me of the Faith+1 album cover
Bono heard about a particular practice in Belfast, Northern Ireland in which a person’s religion and income dictated where they lived and on which street. Ever the humanist, Bono wrote the song, imagining a place where such a thing was not in practice. americansongwriter.com/what-do-the-...
Thank you
This album is on my short list of 10/10 albums. Joshua Tree Abbey Road Little Girl Blue Graceland Koln Concert
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Overrated
U2 have actually just announced they’re bringing out a board game. It’s called Bonopoly; it’s like Monopoly…except where the Streets have No Name I’ll get me coat
Good effort 🤣
A personal top ten album.
Incredible song. Fantastic intro. Great album opener. An all time favourite for me.
I love this album too. I am surprised that seems like an unpopular opinion these days
People are trying to ‘Nickleback’ U2.
Bono is a POS. Rightfully scorned by the Irish.
Their last descent album
I think "escaped" rather than "released".
Couldn’t get my 4-year-old son to quit dancing to it. Came on MTV, had to start swaggering through the apartment. Took to calling him Edge.
and now my Toyota plays U2 every time i start my car. worse decision ever by U2
Love that liquor store video.
My high school sweetheart (rip) used to look just like Bono. Class of 89.
These four are some of the most wealthy people on earth. They are not your friends,
👍👍👍👍
It never left my turntable...
I worked at Tower Records the day this album dropped. We were moving to a new location a couple of blocks away. We stayed open to sell it at the old store while we also transported the product up the street in large wagons. It was a crazy but fun day
Loved that album
I see you also enjoy U2. Have you had the chance to watch Bono: Stories of Surrender (AppleTV+)? If not, it is unique and worth the time.
I started watching it, but the first overly dramatic bit kind of turned me off. I’m really not into beat poetry. Does it get better?
Appreciate your critical honesty. It’s about the same throughout, songs the best part, though seeing all gave me a somewhat deeper understanding of the band. So…better I can’t say for you, it did appeal to me play-wise.
Ok
One of the greatest albums in music history!!
Agree to disagree
SAD BUT NOT A FAN ANYMORE.. "BOYCOTT THEM" THEY SUPPORT ZIONISM ISRAELS GENOCIDE 👎🏼
