What about the head of the Department of Special Education at a university who, in 2018, asked me why I didn't have guardians signing off approval for participants with SUBTLE cognitive decline. It didn't start with COVID. 3/3

I didn’t mean it started with Covid. But it really brought out a lot of fascist thinking. Saw it all the time on Twitter. Called it out every time too.
There's been a lot of discussions about that. These behaviors were much more covert prior to Trump's first term in office. He engaged in them publicly, and nobody really stopped him or said much of anything, which normalized these behaviors. 1/3
So what really happened is that people became more comfortable with being overtly fascist. The attitudes were always there. We actually nurtured them in many ways. Dr. Murray Sidman wrote a fantastic book about how our society creates societal dropout back in 1989. 2/3
While it's older, it's still relevant. It's not specific to fascism, but I find his theories very beneficial to understanding how our society has been shaped. It's called "Coercion and its Fallout." 3/3 archive.org/details/coer...
Thank you!
You're welcome 🙂. One of the very few good things that came out of my MS in ABA is an understanding of societal behavior/human behavior as a whole. There's so much we can do for ourselves and each other if we're willing.
