Of course Vladimir Putin wants to be invited to the World Cup in the US ‘very badly’ (D. Trump). It’d show the powerlessness of the opposition to his Ukraine war. If George W Bush hadn’t pulled out of the Int Criminal Court, the US would have to arrest Putin on American soil.

Bush’s legacy—ICC exit, Iraq war chaos, Guantanamo abuses, Katrina failure, Patriot Act overreach—set the stage for Trump’s exploitation. It also delayed honest US-Russia reckoning. Had Gore won in 2000, America might hold far stronger ground vs Putin today.

Nice opportunity for Europe to boycott in that case.

The USA claims of being the champions of human rights and the rules based order is a myth. Their invasions of Panama, Grenada and Iraq, the use of “extreme rendition” and G.W. Bush’s threat to invade the Netherlands if any US citizens were taken to the ICC for trial are conclusive proof of this.

World cup should be boycotted by fans at least as it's not safe to travel to America at this time.
