Important article you should read. In theory the idea is fine. In practice, I don't know that I'd trust Elon Musk with anything. Boring's Vegas venture seems a bit boondoggle-y, and it's the only real thing they've done.

Well, it's NOT fine... we need 40-foot tunnels at a deeper depth, and the engineers have said as much! Boring wants 12 ft tunnels at a swallow depth... they DONT know what they are doing. They just want funding!

It's been suggested to build at 40 feet. No one has said that's what we absolutely need. Lower cost alternatives are a possibility.

It doesn’t seem like any of his actual boring machines have completed any projects? Only machines the company has purchased. Most of these boring machines are traditionally custom built for the job, also not sure how the auto casing would work with the significant dewatering you would have to do.
