DEI is used as an excuse, a cudgel, a way of expressing racism without fear of retaliation by the media, employers, and our government. I’ve met a few who don’t know what DEI stands for only that it’s said a lot and is negative.

An extension of the racially coded language ginned up by Reagan which allowed both parties to implement racist policies, almost always aimed at Blacks, under the guise of 'law and order', without any fear of being called out. Instead, they received enthusiastic support from the media.

The smartest response I heard in an interview from some head of DEI in the federal govt (I don’t remember her name or exact job title) was that DEI initiatives want the same thing as anti-DEI proponents- to put the most qualified people in all facets the govt.

Which bolsters the argument that anti DEI proponents are using it to promote their racist misogynistic ideologies.

Don’t forget to include misogyny in their DEI - greatly expands where they feel they can “justify” the use it as motivation.
