And, as in all things, fear is the mind killer. I've seen so many people jumping on the wagon out of fear of irrelevance or not having a job. I have yet to see anyone point to something particularly good and say "we were able to do this only through LLMs/image generators".
That's the point where I would give an inch, if anyone pointed to one single good outcome that required the tool, let alone anything arguably worth the cost and harms.

I have seen AI generated stuff that is either factually wrong, or just inane. In theory one could use it to write fiction of some sort, but it would be effectively ripping off human authors.
Oh, that has been done. At one point there were thousands of examples on Amazon. All pretty much unreadable. Apart from the dreadful prose style, what passed for plots made no sense.
