One of the very many reasons I am at war with opinion polling is that it's based in a very incorrect model of the relationship between mental states and behaviors. That behavioral nudge stuff is also shallow nonsense for the most part.

People who remember 2016 polling where people agreed that Trump was not competent to be president AND voted for him anyway know this. Polls would be better off asking people what their neighbors will do than what they believe in. No one will admit that their racist/sexist views inform their votes.
