it turned out to be fairly easy for me but went in fits and starts, sort of accidentally. I'll explain in a thread in case it's helpful to see the kinds of ways you can get started, but apologies if it's just a bit rambly!
started out running it out of a suitcase in pubs, just on my own bagsing or booking a table/room. then went online on insta stories in lockdown, on my own first and then I got a joint account with some friends to do it in (one of whom I met at the pub version!) to help as it was more work ironically
after in person returned I was asking around local pubs and cafes to see if I could do a display or zine vending machine, with a few false starts but no luck. but then someone at the local arts centre was looking for people to run art clubs they had funding for heard I'd been looking abd here we are
which is not to say you should wait around for someone to hear from a third party about you 😁 but some ideas of potential places to approach.
are you planning on doing it masked? cos I have HEAPS of practical tips and info on how to make that work, happy to put together a short guide (which I really should do anyway!)

I’d be really interested to see examples of the things that have been made - I write small things for role playing games and call those ‘zines’, but I know it’s a broad term for a whole lot of different things.
oh definitely would be happy to post some! yes, zines contain multitudes! I've even seen some really sculptural 3D ones before. I'll take some pics tonight!

It’s a pipe dream at the moment, I would need to work on my Portuguese (or find someone to help) right now, but it’s a fantastic idea - it would also help with the requirement of taking part in the community that I need to get my citizenship.

Masking is very sparse in Portugal, but if the people who wanted to come wanted to mask I’d 100% be up for it.
